Dickens called David Copperfield his “favourite child,” and it is widely considered his most personal novel, drawing on his own childhood hardships and early career. It follows David from a difficult boyhood to adult life as a writer, and introduced unforgettable characters including Uriah Heep, Mr. Micawber, and Betsey Trotter.

The illustrator John Austen (1886 to 1948) was influenced early on by Aubrey Beardsley and developed into an illustrator of wit and elegance, producing decorative images associated with Art Deco. His work is held in the permanent collections of the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford and the British Museum in London.

A wonderful addition for collectors of Dickens, classic English literature, Art Deco era illustration, or Easton Press editions. The condition makes it a good option for a collector on a budget.
