Robert Bloch (1917 to 1994) was one of the most celebrated American horror and suspense writers of the 20th century, a protégé of H. P. Lovecraft who went on to surpass his mentor in popular recognition through one extraordinary novel. First published in 1959, Psycho was adapted just one year later by Alfred Hitchcock into what is widely regarded as one of the greatest films ever made, a movie that single-handedly changed the language of cinema, invented the slasher genre, and created one of the most iconic villains in the history of popular culture in Norman Bates. Hitchcock famously bought up as many copies of the original novel as he could find before the film’s release to preserve the ending’s secrecy, making surviving first edition copies genuinely scarce. Bloch won the Hugo Award for his short story That Hell-Bound Train in 1959, the same year Psycho was published, cementing his status as one of the most versatile and decorated genre writers of his generation.

A factory sealed Easton Press fine leather edition of one of the most culturally transformative horror novels ever written in flawless condition is a genuinely compelling collectors piece.

A wonderful addition for collectors of horror fiction, film history, Easton Press editions, or fans of one of the most iconic stories ever told.
